Quando:1993 – 1995
Que som é esse: Com o fim da banda de Power pop, “Jellyfish”, o guitarrista e vocalista, Jason Falkner chamou o amigo, Jon Brion e mais dois colegas para formar o Grays.
Ainda com forte influência de sua antiga banda, Jason continuou a compor canções estilo Power pop porém agora com uns toques de rock alternativo e guitarras mais distorcidas. O resultado foi à banda de rock perfeita para qualquer rádio que (obviamente) tocasse rock. O único problema foi que a banda foi atropelada pela competitividade das bandas do seguimento alternativo, ficando as margens do sucesso, emplacando apenas um hit que chegou a ser ouvida nas rádios americanas por pouco tempo “The Very Best Years”.
A banda se desmanchou em 95, onde cada musico resolveu ir para seu caminho e arriscar a vida na carreira solo. Jason Falkner formou o Imperial Drag e seu amigo Jon Brion, arriscou trabalhar com trilhas sonoras de filmes, logo para bons filmes, e logo para blockbusters, como: Brilho eterno de uma mente sem lembranças (de Jim Carrey) e Magnólia. Deixando o único álbum da banda “Ro Sham Bo” de 1994 como (The Very Best Lost Pearl from the 90s” (a melhor pérola perdida dos anos 90).
